Conservative radio host and author Mark Levin routinely refers to the mainstream media on his radio program as the “Praetorian Guard media,” which is truthfully about as accurate of a statement as anybody can make. Today, the media exists not for the purpose of providing the public with facts and accurate information, but for defending the Democratic Party against incoming and potentially damaging attacks.
A perfect example of this lies in the mainstream media’s response to a new Reuters poll, which indicated that the Democratic Party may be in some serious trouble as we head into the 2018 midterm elections. Specifically, the poll asked, “Thinking about the elections in 2018, if the election for U.S. Congress were held today, would you vote for the Democratic candidate or the Republican candidate in your district where you live?” Even though for most of the month of May more people answered, “Democratic candidate” than “Republican candidate,” by May 20, those who said they would vote for Republicans jumped to 40.7 percent and those who said they would vote for Democrats dropped to 34.5 percent.
However, despite this dramatic collapse in democrat candidate favorability, the mainstream media is nowhere to be seen. They aren’t interested in reporting on this because it is news that is harmful to the Democratic Party, and as previously mentioned, the media’s sole purpose is to protect the democrats, not invite more doubt and controversy. (Related: The purpose of the mainstream media is thought control and suppression of the truth.)
And yet, in an ironic twist, there is a strong case to be made that the media is actually responsible, to a large extent, for the Democrat’s collapse in the polls. The mainstream media wasn’t exactly the most trusted institution in American society to begin with, but after over a year of endlessly talking about how “horrible” Donald Trump and his supporters are without offering any real news content whatsoever, the people are starting to become fed up, not just with the talking heads and liberal bloggers, but with the political party that they are endlessly and pathetically trying to defend. (Related: Read about how to avoid being brainwashed by the mainstream media.)
When they’re not defending the Democrat Party, the media is out attacking republicans. Out of all the anti-Trump rhetoric spewed out across the airwaves courtesy of fake news networks like CNN and MSNBC, the story that they seem to cling most closely to is the so-called Russia collusion scandal. Without even a shred of evidence, the media has created a narrative that says Donald Trump and his team worked with Vladimir Putin and the Russians to win the 2016 presidential election. And, as if reporting on a story that has no basis in fact wasn’t bad enough, the media has been talking about it without end.
In a study conducted by the Media Research Center, researchers found that “out of 851 total minutes of airtime devoted to the administration” in the months of January and February, the three networks ABC, CBS and NBC “spent almost one-fourth of it (204 minutes, or 24 percent) on the Russia investigation, eclipsing other major topics such as the economy, immigration reform, and even the gun debate.” In other words, the lying, fake news mainstream media spent more time talking about a story that has been one big lie from the start than on the issues that are most relevant to the American people.
For Democrats, the harsh reality is that the mainstream media is doing more harm than good. It may seem as though they are protecting them, and in many ways they are, but at the end of the day, the media is the Democrat Party’s worst enemy.
